Elephantiasis of Labia Majora and Clitoris Removed and Cured

A young Hindoo woman, aged 25 years, had been the subject of elephantiasis of the labia and clitoris for upwards of four years. She stated that she had contracted chancres with a bubo on her right groin. The chancres continued for a long time unhealed, the bubo was resolved in a month's time by native remedies. A few months subsequently, she noticed a Swelling in the right labium, which gradually increased, and became indurated. The growth was unattended with any suffering, until it attained the size of an infant's head, when she became subject to periodical paroxysms of inflammation, with consequent inflammatory fever, influenced by the phases of the moon, as generally is the case in elephantiases scroti in Bengal.
